Spring Makeup

I may not be a beauty guru, but I love to play around with makeup! I generally never leave the house without a little bit of makeup on (except for maybe the gym or the beach). However, I must admit that lately I’ve been following the “less is more” motto. It’s spring, I want my skin to feel fresh and not like I’m wearing ten pounds of makeup. With that being said, keep reading for my spring makeup routine.

Face

Depending on how nice my skin looks, my face makeup routine will change. If my skin isn’t looking so clear, I will use a light covering of my bareMinerals foundation. However, most days I’ve been going without foundation. Instead I start with primer. I recently bought this primer and I cannot begin to tell you how much I love it! I’ll be honest and say before this product I hardly ever used primer, and even now I can’t say that I’ve noticed my makeup staying on longer, but what I can say is this: my skin looks so incredibly bright, even through foundation if I use it! Anyway, after using primer, I then apply concealer to any problem spots. Finally, I like to cover up my under eye circles. I’ve always had very dark under eye circles that are hard to conceal. However, I recently tried this under eye brightener and I am amazed at how well it works. I started applying this after I put concealer under my eyes, but now I just use this under my eyes and it is completely fine! I will say though that it works best if you rub it in with your fingers. My beauty blender was not effective with this product. After concealing is done, I will sometimes apply a very light application of blush. I don’t actually know which shade I use, but it is bareMinerals (obviously I’m a big fan of that brand!).

Eyes

For my eyes, again it depends on the day. Most days I just curl my lashes and apply a couple coats of mascara. I use this mascara by stila, and I really like the length it adds to my lashes. What I don’t like is that it seems to fade throughout the day, and yet it’s impossible to fully remove at night even thought it’s not waterproof! I’m probably going to try something else soon. Some days after the mascara I will also apply a light champagne colored eye shadow from my Naked2 palette or the Naked Smoky palette. If I’m feeling really crazy, I will pair my mascara with a subtle cat-eye using this eyeliner. This is by far the best liquid eyeliner I have ever used! I received a sample of it in my monthly birchbox and since then my mom and I have been looking for eyeliners that are sold elsewhere that have as stiff of a tip and this one (it makes application really easy). We are so far unsuccessful, so I’m probably going to order a full size version of the eyeliner from the birchbox website.

Lips

I will start this by saying that I am addicted to lip products. I have countless lipsticks, glosses, stains, tints, and balms. I can’t get enough! That being said, I have two new lip products that I feel are absolutely perfect for spring. The first is this lipstick by tarte in the shade Coral Blossom. What I love about this lipstick is that it is more like a heavily pigmented lip balm. There’s no need for lipliner, it applies very easily. However, I do have to reapply multiple times throughout the day. The other lip product I love is this lip gloss from bareMinerals in the shade Juicy Mango. I love it! The Moxie Buttercream lip gloss  is a new take on bareMinerals’ old Marvelous Moxie lip glosses and I can actually feel a difference. The old lip gloss felt really thick and sticky, whereas this one is lighter and smooth! It is perfect for spring!

The Final Touch

Although not technically makeup, I feel that perfume should be included in my spring beauty routine. Some people believe that perfume is for special occasions…I am not one of those people. I wear my Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet perfume religiously! I don’t believe that I am ready for the day without perfume. This perfume exemplifies my style in one tiny bottle. It is very girly and delicate with its light pink hue and the bow accent on the bottle. The scent itself is a light mix of fruity and flowery. Everyone has different tastes when it comes to perfume, but to me this perfume is perfect!
