Hello, lovely readers! I know it’s been awhile since my last post, but I’m going to try to stick with the plan to have a new post up every Monday. Anywho, today’s post is about a silvery eye makeup look I tried last week and want to share. Hope you like it!
Just a brief overview of my face makeup, I start with a bareMinerals primer and foundation. I cover any blemishes, first with a green concealer by Maybelline and then my bareMinerals concealer on top. Because I have dark under eye circles, I start with Bobbi Brown’s color corrector in peach. The peach color works to mask the purpley-blue color. Then I cover that with my concealer again, and finish with a coat of my Stroke of Light eye brightener.
Now here’s the fun part. For my eye makeup, I worked solely with my Urban Decay Naked Smoky palette. It’s literally my fave palette ever! Don’t be fooled by the name, you can do more with it than just create a smoky eye, but that’s actually kind of what we’ll be doing. Just take my word for it, the Naked Smoky palette is amazing.
First, I start by applying the color Password all over my eyelid. I usually sweep the color just slightly past my crease, but not all the way up to my eyebrow. I find that sometimes the color goes on sort of harshly, so I usually use my finger to blend and make it even. I love the brush that comes with this palette, but for some reason I find that blending is a little hard. Also, if you don’t have this palette, fear not! Just choose a color in a light matte gray.
The next step is to blend Black Market into the crease and at the end of your eyelid. Imagine you are making a V shape at the outer corner of your eye. Again, I usually have to use my finger to blend the color. The shimmery black goes on pretty dark, but once you blend it, it looks much nicer. I also find that it’s very pigmented so I only use a small amount.
Now, to finish off the eyeshadow and really give it a silvery look, I dab Armor from the inner corner of my eye to the middle of my eyelid. The color looks REALLY silvery in the picture (and in person) but it’s actually pretty hard to get the sparkley color to show up. I usually have to do a couple coats and even then, the silvery shade is still very subtle. At this point, the makeup should look like it does in the below picture (ignore my crazy hair, if you can’t tell it’s still damp from the shower).
To complete the eye makeup portion of this look, using my L’Oreal Voluminous Superstar liquid eye liner, I draw a subtle cat-eye. I found that this usually turns out best when I draw the wing so that the end is going towards the end of my eyebrow in a diagonal. After that, I curl my eyelashes and sweep on a couple coats of mascara.
For the finishing touches, I first darken my eyebrows a bit. I already have pretty thick eyebrows so I usually just fill in at the front and at the arch. I received a sample of Benefit’s eyebrow pencil which I used above, but my absolute fave is from IT Cosmetics. After my eyebrows, I brush on my bareMinerals blush. I was never a hug fan of blush and in fact I think I only own two, but I got the one above as a Christmas present and completely fell in love when I first used it. I think the color just matches my skin tone perfectly, making me look alive and slightly tanner (weirdly enough). Because it’s so pigmented I literally only use the small amount you can see in the cap picture above for both cheeks. The absolute last step is lips. The lip crayon I used is from Avon and I honestly cannot tell you the name of the color (what I linked looks close but I don’t think it’s the same). It’s a shimmery and slightly brownish nude. I use this product as a go-to whenever I want some color. It’s nice because I can make it lighter or darker. Because I’m not sure of the name, I found some similar colors here, here, and here.
And here’s the finished look! Again, ignore my hair please. I’m a little sad that the camera didn’t pick up the silvery sparkles on the inner corner (like I said they’re subtle), but I promise you can see them in person. I hope you liked this tutorial.
