Yesterday, my mom and I convinced my dad that we needed to go out for brunch. One place I’ve always wanted to try, but never had is Miss Shirley’s Cafe. Everyone says that you need to be prepared to wait forever to get in. We must have gotten really lucky, because we were seated right away. Let me just say, I’ve never had a more delicious meal. I tried the coconut cream stuffed french toast that was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and it was AMAZING. Honestly though, I could’ve split the french toast with another person.

Anyway, on to my outfit. When I flew into Baltimore on Friday, it was pretty warm, but Saturday night it got really cold. So yesterday was somewhere in the 30s or 40s (read: very cold). Layers are definitely a must when the weather starts to drop. I layered a denim button-down top under a cozy sweater for my look. I love the way the collar looks underneath the sweater, giving the outfit a preppy vibe.

To keep the outfit from looking too preppy, and to keep warm, I paired the tops with my faux-leather leggings. If you don’t already have a pair, get some now! They are seriously the best. You can dress them down for brunch like me, or dress them up to wear out on a Friday night. I also think that they’re warmer than jeans, so they were perfect yesterday.

If you’ve been following my blog for awhile now, you’ll notice my Steve Madden booties making an appearance again. They’re definitely my go-to fall shoes. You can’t go wrong with a pair of black suede booties!

Finally, I finished off my look with a peacoat and scarf. I did not think I was going to be breaking out my peacoat yet, but it was just so cold I had to. I am a big fan of camel colored coats for the fall and winter. The color goes with anything and just looks sophisticated. I’m also so in love with my Loft scarf. I’ve had it for a few years now and it’s always my go-to scarf. Like a camel coat, a white scarf goes with every outfit.

I hope you liked this post and if you’re in the Baltimore area, go to Miss Shirley’s ASAP!

xo,

Carey
