What to Wear to Tea

What to Wear to Tea

Dress (in pink) // Mules (similar) // Bag (similar) // Bracelets // Necklace // Watch (similar) // Lipstick in “Juliette”

Every year my friend Emma and I make it a priority to go to a tea room. We spend the late morning/early afternoon enjoying tea, scones, and conversation. However, I would argue that, aside from the scones and lemon curd, our favorite part about our annual excursion is dressing for it.

Somehow each year around the time we make plans for tea, we both manage to score a brand new dress that is just perfect for the occasion. This year, we both ended up in blue wrap dresses paired with mules. We didn’t actually plan to coordinate, but I think our sartorial choices say a little something about this summer’s fashion — when in doubt, wear a wrap dress.

By no means a revolutionary silhouette — we all know the classic Diane von Furstenberg favorites — the wrap dress is a timeless style that works for almost any occasion. But this summer they are definitely having a moment, especially when paired with ruffles, floral prints, and pastel colors.

The dress I’m wearing above is one I recently found on a sale rack at Nordstrom, so I wasn’t surprised that I couldn’t find it online. It also came in a pale pink color (linked above) that is still sold at Francesca’s. In honor of this summer’s hottest silhouette, I’m linking a few personal favorites below, along with my friend Emma’s dress that she wore to tea:

  • Emma wore this one in blue, but I’m also loving the yellow floral version too!
  • This Topshop version has been at the top of my list for awhile now.
  • Loving this wrap dress in coral for a summer vacation.
  • If you prefer a simpler style, you can’t go wrong with this black one.
  • This version is similar to mine above with a floral pattern, ruffles, and cold shoulder detail.
  • This polka dotted wrap dress is under $25!
  • If you prefer a longer style, try this floral midi length dress!

Honestly, I could go on and on with my list of wrap dresses because there are so many options right now at every price point. I’m finding that a lot of online retailers even have a wrap dress filter, to help your browsing experience.

Thanks for stopping by and happy Wednesday!

Red Polka Dot Dress

Red Polka Dot Dress

Dress // Sandals // Bag (similar) // Sunglasses // Bracelets // Lipstick in “Lana”

I’ve met the love of my life: this dress. As soon as I saw this dress online at Urban Outfitters I knew that I needed to own it. It epitomizes everything I want my summer wardrobe to be — fun, flirty, with a subtle retro vibe. And if that isn’t enough to put this dress on your wish list, red is one of the top colors for summer 2017.

Keeping with the subtle retro vibe, I paired my dress with my white cat eye sunglasses and my white sandals. I also added my gray leather bag I bought when I was in Florence in January. I still can’t get over the fact that a genuine leather purse (and a decent size) only cost 65€!

That’s all for this week, thanks for stopping by!

P.S. I’m kind of thinking about using this dress for a Minnie Mouse costume for Halloween haha!

Top // Shorts // Sandals (sold out in blue, similar here)  // Bag (similar) // Sunglasses // Necklace (similar) // Bracelets

One of my favorite trends for spring/summer/any time of year is ruffles. They’ve slowly been emerging over the past few seasons and now they’re being fully embraced. From shirts, dresses, shorts, skirts, even pants, the new motto is put a ruffle on it. Ruffles take any garment from casual, to fun and flirty. (Shop more ruffled picks here, here, and here!)

My look for today features my new ruffled shorts from Zara that I am obsessed with. While the shorts would definitely still be cute without the ruffle edge, that small detail instantly transforms them into something a little more.

For accessories, I went with my new necklace from Loft. I bought it in stores on Sunday, but it wasn’t on the Loft website unfortunately. But, the necklace I linked to is also super cute. I’ve been gravitating towards dedicated layered necklaces lately. I also added my blue mules to give the outfit a pop of color to the black and white look. The dotted print on the shorts just screamed for my white cat eye sunglasses to keep with the retro vibe.

This outfit would be perfect for a casual day on vacation or brunch with friends. I hope you liked this post, and come back next week for more!
