Like the majority of the world now, I spend an unhealthy amount of time watching TikTok. From styling videos to recipes to dances to just straight up humor, it’s easy to get sucked in. While spending so much time on the app I can’t help but notice some trends that the TikTok-ers all seem to wear. And because I love nothing more than playing with fashion and trends, I had to try some out for myself! So today I’m sharing the top five TikTok fashion trends I’ve picked out—so you don’t have to!
It’s no surprise I’m a fan of tennis skirts. I just blathered on about my love of the style in this blog post. But what you probably didn’t know was that TikTok actually convinced me to try this trend. 90s and early 2000s style is huge on the app, making tennis skirts seem like a no-brainer. From solid colors like I’m wearing above to school girl plaid there are so many ways to wear this skirt.
Looking for a top to wear with your tennis skirt? A polo is a popular choice with TikTok fashionistas. The classic top mixes two styles that seem to be taking off, both on TikTok and in the fashion world: preppy and dad-inspired.
As mentioned, TikTok fashion swings more towards 90s and 2000s style. And what’s more 90s than a mini bag? If you need room for more than your credit cards and a lipstick you might want to sit this one out. The ideal TikTok bag is the baguette style that just barely sits on your shoulder. This is a definitely a case of fashion over function, but I’m also here for it.
I really, really tried to incorporate this trend with my outfit in today’s post. I promise I did. But alas, my crew socks just aren’t cool enough. Obviously I need to invest in the Nike style that all the cool TikTok girls are wearing. Whether you wear these socks with sneakers or sandals — I’m looking at you, Birkenstocks — is your prerogative.
So this last trend might arguably be my favorite. There’s been a resurgence of grandma-inspired fashion, and not just on TikTok. One thing you’re sure to find in your grandmother’s closet? A silk scarf! Now the hardest part is figuring out which of the various ways to tie it you’re going to try out!
So that’s that with the top five TikTok fashion trends I’ve been seeing on the app. Clearly TikTok has been a major inspiration for me lately! Let me know, are you currently wearing any of these trends?
