It’s no secret that I love neutrals. My closet is brimming with white, black, and denim. But, without fail, every year at the beginning of spring I start craving color. Specifically, pastels. Maybe it’s a rebellion against a dark, lingering winter, but pastels are all I want once we get through March!
As soon as I saw this pastel yellow slip skirt, I knew it had to be mine. Yellow isn’t a color I usually gravitate towards, but it’s very of the moment in 2021. And, of course, it’s pastel. I think a lot of people are hesitant to wear yellow, but I love this particular shade because of how light it is — you could even mistake it for white in some light. It definitely makes that color less intimidating, but it’s still cheerful.
But, if yellow isn’t your thing, other pastels abound! I’ve always been partial to baby blue for spring (my prom dress was baby blue and I wore yellow accessories actually!), and mint green has my heart as well. And don’t forget light pinks and lavenders!
While I’m all for going crazy with pastels in the spring, I can appreciate that’s not for everyone. Heck, I wear white almost every single day, so I understand the hesitation. But, with so many 90s and Y2K trends happening at the moment, the possibility for pastel accessories is there. From bags to hats (bucket hats anyone?) to sunglasses and maybe even a claw clip, you can’t go wrong! Hopping on the pastel train couldn’t be easier.
So, tell me, what color has your heart this spring?
