I don’t know about you, but I always consider Memorial Day to be the true start to summer. Forget June 21st, summer is here! And with that, I’m slowly but surely curating my summer wardrobe. And this year, my checklist is short and sweet. Just five key pieces that will get you through the season — of course I’ll be buying them in multiple iterations!
White Shorts
Does anything scream “summer” more than white shorts? Go ahead, I’ll wait. Nothing sets off a glowing, summer tan like white shorts. (Note to self: put on tanner asap). Whether you’re going for a denim pair or a more tailored option like I’m wearing above, white shorts are essential. They go with practically anything and look just a tad more put together than your typical denim cutoffs.
Statement Tanks
Everyone needs a good statement top and a tank fits the bill when it’s hot as hell out. I’m loving this top above for the ruffle and bow details — very girly, but a little less so in black. Going for a neutral color like black is always a good choice — definitely make sure to stock up — but color is it this season. From lime green to hot pink to sunset orange, this neutral girl is loving it all! A bright color alone makes for a statement, even when the silhouette is simple. Another trend for summer is the halter top, a statement maker for sure!
Neutral Sandals
No wardrobe is complete without the perfect shoe. This summer is all about the strappy, low heel sandal. If you didn’t read my last post about these sandals, see here. Without waxing poetic once more, all I can say is they look chic and you won’t break an ankle. What more could you want?
Colorful Accessories
As mentioned, color is everywhere this season and accessories are an easy way to incorporate it. I’ve been loving adding my orange, 70s style sunglasses paired with colorful acrylic rings. The best part is that both accessories are from Amazon! It’s so easy to try out new trends without breaking the bank.
So, what’s on your summer wardrobe checklist? Did I miss anything?
