What to Wear for Thanksgiving Dinner: 4 Outfit Ideas

It’s crazy to think that holiday season is upon us and the year is almost over. From buying gifts to making travel plans to everything in between, this time of year can be stressful. One thing you shouldn’t be stressing over? What to wear for your Thanksgiving gathering this year! To help make finding an outfit as easy as possible, I’m rounding up a few outfit ideas for each type of Thanksgiving gathering!

Casual Cute

My family always does a low key Thanksgiving dinner. It’s usually just my parents, brother, and his girlfriend at my parents’ house. That doesn’t mean I don’t like to look cute though! The outfit styled above will definitely make a statement — I mean how cute is the poncho?? — but has the added benefit of keeping you ultra cozy. Even better, if your waistline starts to feel tight from all the food, the poncho will cover any unbuttoning that may have to happen… 🙂

A Formal Affair

If your Thanksgiving gathering is a bit more formal, you can’t go wrong with a blazer dress. It looks polished and chic, without trying too hard. After all, you’re there to celebrate with friends and family over a delicious meal! I paired my blazer dress with knee high boots, but if you want to go even fancier, swap the boots for tights and heels.

Extra Comfy

If your Thanksgiving gathering is more of the sweatpants/leggings variety — I’m imagining the families that like to play football — a pair of comfy black jeans paired with a sweatshirt and baseball cap are perfect. It’s a total sporty vibe, but still has a bit of that cool factor.

Sweater (Dress) Weather

When in doubt, a sweater dress is always a safe choice for Thanksgiving. It’s comfortable, but also looks like you put some effort in. They can also be dressed up or down, which helps you plan in advance for a holiday party you’re unsure of. Just make a shoe decision on the day of and accessorize accordingly! I can’t get enough of sweater dresses this time of year, they’re just so cute!

Would love to know what you’re wearing for Thanksgiving this year!

Carey
