Every year when the holidays come around, I get so excited to start dressing festive. Give me all of the reds, greens, and sparkles! But, I know that bright holiday colors (and sequins) aren’t for everyone. I mean, most of the year you can find me in neutrals. But just because you want to steer away from traditional holiday colors, doesn’t mean you can’t still look festive! So, I thought I would share an understated holiday outfit idea for all of my fellow neutral-lovers.
If you don’t want to wear festive colors, look for festive textures instead! Satin is so pretty and just has that holiday feeling. Equally festive are tweed, velvet, and faux fur! I personally love satin though because it’s not quite as loud as sequins, but still catches the light in an interesting way.
As far as colors, black is always a good bet! Black doesn’t necessarily scream “festive” but it does scream elegance. As long as you keep the look on the classy/elegant side, you can still pull off the holiday vibe.
Finally, a pair of black patterned tights are an easy way to dress up your look and keep it fun! I’m wearing these faux GG tights (I’m not usually a fan of fake designer items, but I can’t be trusted with $150 tights… I’m constantly ripping mine!). They’re so fun to wear under skirts, dresses, and sweater dresses! Because they stand out, it’s easy for the rest of the outfit to be more low key.
