Let’s Catch Up: Major Life Updates

It’s been a bit since my last blog post. Between work, creating content, and attempting to have a social life, long-form blog posts have taken a back seat. Going to do my best to change that because writing is one of my favorite parts of this job.

With that out of the way, let’s do a little catch up. I’ve had two major moments/milestones happen — both in the same month!

First, I officially graduated from Columbia University with my masters in strategic communication. You might be thinking, Carey didn’t this already happen? My program finished in December (and I started my full time job in January) but I actually walked across the stage on May 13th. It was so nice to get together again with my classmates and actually have a moment that felt normal — going to school during a pandemic was definitely strange.

Right after my graduation, I actually moved apartments! It was surreal saying goodbye to my first NYC apartment, but it was definitely time to move on. I now live in a two bedroom with one of my previous roommates. It’s a lot smaller, but we moved from a fifth floor walk up, to an apartment with an elevator and a balcony! Where my last apartment felt like a “student” apartment (mostly because of the proximity to Columbia) this one feels like a true adult apartment.

So between those two events and work, life has been pretty hectic! But summer is in full swing and I can’t wait to share some fun summer content with you all. Especially since I am GOING TO ITALY next month! I’ll be going to Rome and the Amalfi Coast with some of my best friends and I couldn’t be more excited. I haven’t been to Europe since 2019 so it feels amazing to be going back.

Trend Alert: Cargo Pants

Now that we’ve talked about what’s going on in my life, let’s bring it back to what we’re all here for: fashion. I never thought the words “I love cargo pants” would ever leave my lips, but… I’m a huge fan! Obviously they have to be styled a certain way, but I just think this trend is so fun. I think the key to pulling cargo pants off is to pair the oversized pants with a more fitted top.

This trend definitely isn’t for everyone, but I like that there are so many takes on the style. I went for a colorful, not super baggy pair. I’ve seen others that are a little more streamlined to make the trend less overwhelming. And of course, you can blow right past the traditional cargo style and opt for parachute pants if you’re feeling really bold!

I’ve already ordered a second pair of cargo pants because I love this pair so much. Of course I’ll be styling them on my Instagram feed soon!

What do you think of the cargo trend?

xo,

Carey
