Leather Shorts | Graphic Tee | Sneakers | Bag | Sunglasses | Watch

It’s officially September and I’m ready for fall. Crisp air, cozy sweaters, and pumpkin everything. Unfortunately, it doesn’t quite feel like fall. So, we need to get a bit creative. Which brings me to these leather shorts!

Everything about these shorts called to me as soon as I saw them in stores. The color, the material the fit, I love it all. And it’s those details that make them the perfect transition piece for fall.

The color. Burnt orange screams autumn to me. It’s not quite a Halloween orange that’s garish to look at. Instead, this color reminds me of falling leaves.

The material. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I love leather. I own leather skirts, shorts, jackets, boots, and even a leather dress. But, it’s definitely not a fabric to be worn year round and that’s why I love leather shorts. I wouldn’t wear them in the dead of summer, but at the end of summer, leather shorts are perfect to start moving us towards fall.

The fit. Not to say the style of these shorts is limited to fall, but I do like a nice belted waist at autumn. Even better, the shorts are almost a paper bag-waist fit, which I’m a huge fan of.

Keeping this look summer appropriate, I had to add a graphic tee. I actually grabbed this shirt just so I had something to try on with the shorts in the dressing room, and fell in love with the pairing. It’s also hard to tell in the photos, but the glasses on the girl are actually little appliqués on the shirt!

Anyway, I hope you like this look! Leave a comment below telling me what you want to see next!

With August coming to an end, I know we’re all itching for fall. Fall clothes, fall weather, fall treats… (Anyone else ready for that pumpkin spice latte?). Well I don’t about you, but now that I’m back to school in North Carolina, it is HOT. I walked to class in 95℉ today and felt like I was melting. So with that being said, here’s a nice summer look for everyone who is dressing for reality, instead of their fall fantasy.

I bought this two-piece set earlier this summer and couldn’t be more in love. I wore it to happy hour with a friend and then also to dinner with my parents. It’s such a cute look, without being over the top. And that price point? This lil number definitely won’t break the bank at only $23! While you’re ordering, pick up a few extras too!

Throwing in a few extras is actually how I ended up with the lemon bag I paired with this look. It’s such a fun addition for summer, plus I love light blue and yellow (I actually wore that color combo to my senior prom!).

I dressed this look up a bit with my wedges for a finishing touch, but it looks equally cute with sandals. When I wore it for happy hour, I paired the outfit with my Tory Burch sandals.

Anyway, that’s all for this week. As always, let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

A Dainty Detail: Leopard Print Shoes

I’m back again to start your Monday off with another post from my A Dainty Detail series. Today it’s all about leopard print shoes. It’s no secret how much I love the leopard-print espadrille slides I’ve been wearing since spring. And I’m happy to say that the obsession is following us into fall! I actually just ordered a pair of fall-appropriate leopard print slides that I can’t wait to share. But, until then, check out some other leopard print shoes I’m loving!

Comment below with your favorite pair!

Fall Mood Board // ’70s Inspiration

Happy Wednesday! With summer almost over, I can’t help but start thinking of fall. More specifically, what I’m going to wear this fall. The trend I’m loving for the upcoming season is a vintage, ’70s vibe. Corduroy, plaid, and bright colors are what it’s all about. And, of course, denim.

The three colors that are going to be huge this season are mustard yellow, lavender, and a bright green. Like I said, bright colors are taking over. Usually I stick with a neutral palette, but I’m excited to spice things up. I’m especially in love with lavender for fall (I already own two lavender colored tops!).

Another trend I’m excited to see more of is leopard print! I’ve had an obsession lately, and it looks like it will carry over to this season. From shoes, skirts, or belts, you really can’t go wrong!

Anyway, I hope this mood board inspires you for fall like it does me! And to shop the items above, just hover over the images!

If you’ve seen my Instagram lately, you’re probably sick of seeing this camisole, but what can I say? I’m in love. My black cami is, without a doubt, my favorite purchase of the summer. You know how much I love my white camisole, and I’m feeling the same about this one. There really isn’t a time when you can’t wear this piece. I love it for summer as a top on its own, but when fall and winter come around, this black cami will look so cute under cardigans.

In an entirely predictable move I, of course, paired my black cami with a denim skirt (another great purchase this summer). This outfit is what I chose to wear for a day trip to Charleston. I wanted something cute, but comfortable while walking in the heat. So obvi I had to add my new rose gold Birkenstocks. (They’re called copper officially but get real — rose gold all the way). Birkenstocks are definitely a polarizing sandal, but personally I love them. I bought my first pair my freshman year of college and they’re still one of my all time favorite shoes. So this summer I had to switch it up and add a pair of rose gold ones to my wardrobe. I think the color definitely makes them more appealing to those that aren’t quite onboard the Birkenstock train just yet. You just can’t go wrong with a metallic sandal this summer — sooo trendy.

Since I was already rocking the hippy-dippy vibe with the Birkenstocks my hexagonal green sunnies were a no-brainer. For $10 at Free People, these sunglasses were a major steal. And surprisingly they go with a lot. Anyway, that’s all for this week. Leave a comment below letting me know what kind of content you’d like to see next!

Happy Friday! Not only has the weekend arrived, but the Nordstrom Sale is open to the public today! And what better time to get your shop on than the weekend? In honor of the sale opening today, I thought I’d share this look featuring some of my purchases during early access.

I cannot tell you how happy I am over this striped tee. A striped tee is something I’ve wanted for awhile and either a.) couldn’t find or b.) didn’t like the options I saw. It’s such a go-to basic that works well with a variety of outfits. I love this one because it’s so soft and light.

Another Nordstrom sale purchase is these black booties. I destroyed my black booties while in London and then over this past winter, so these were a must for me with the sale. I actually didn’t like the booties when I saw them, but my mom convinced me to try them on and I’m in love! The cut outs on the side look so good and the pointed toe really elongates your legs.

What are you shopping for at the Nordstrom sale? Let me know in the comments!

It’s summer time and I have a case of leopard fever!! Between my go-to leopard slides and this skirt, I can’t get enough of the print. Move aside florals because this is most definitely the “it” print of the season.

If you follow me on Instagram, then you may have seen this skirt last week when I wore it to work. That’s one great thing about it — it’s so versatile. This skirt is from Topshop and it’s a little longer than most of their mini skirts, which makes it perfect to wear to work. Warning: I always size up in bottoms for Topshop, and while I don’t think I should have stayed with my normal size, the skirt is a little loose.

I wanted to keep this look casual for a fun Sunday brunch with my friends in downtown Baltimore. I added my fave new bodysuit from Free People. The style is so cute and like the skirt it can be worn for different occasions (I wore it out on a Saturday night, NOT work!). It also comes in a bunch of colors and I really want to get it in white too. Also from Free People are these cute 60s-inspired hexagonal sunglasses with a green tint. I’m all about fun sunglasses, especially in the summer, and couldn’t pass these up — especially when they were on sale for $10!.

Finally, I finished the look with my Tory Burch sandals; Fells Point in Baltimore is covered in cobblestones so wedges were out. And my basket bag topped off the look.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more on the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!

Hello again! I’m back this week with another smocked top. Can you tell I love them?  Because I do. Whoever decided these needed to make a come back is a G-E-N-I-U-S! They’re such a fun look for summer, and come in so many different colors/patterns. I’m really loving the tie strap detail on this top that was only $11

I paired the top with my favorite new white shorts. I have almost the exact same pair from last year in yellow, and when I saw that Leith came out with a similar pair this summer in white I knew I needed to have them. I sized up to a small last summer in the yellow shorts, so I assumed I needed to in these as well, but I think I could’ve stayed with the extra small. The small size is a little looser than I would like, but they’re still cute!

I also added my new favorite wedges. I am obsessed with this pair! I think they’re the perfect summer wedge and they come in a few different colors. I actually originally wanted them in a cognac color, but they were sold out in my size so I went with gray instead. (Ironically, as soon as they came in the mail, Nordstrom restocked the cognac version). Anyway, about this sale…

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

What is it? Every year Nordstrom offers customers brand new fall items at majorly discounted prices. These aren’t the bottom of the barrel, nobody wanted them so let’s put them on sale pieces. No; these pieces are put on sale first, and then revert back to regular prices.

When is it? Early access opens for Nordstrom cardholders on July 12 and goes through July 19. Then, on July 20, the sale opens for everyone and lasts until August 5. While I’m not currently a cardholder, I’m definitely thinking about. Especially since you don’t have to get a credit card — you can open a debit card instead. And bonus, you get double the points for every purchase.

What should I buy? The anniversary sale is the perfect time to stock up on fall staples before they go back to full price. Jeans, sweaters, boots, accessories… They’re all great! I’m personally hoping that the BlankNYC suede jacket goes on sale again this year (and that I can get it before it sells out!).

Subtle Ways to Look Patriotic on the Fourth of July

BBQs, fireworks, and of course, red, white, and blue can only mean one thing — the 4th of July! The holiday is almost here, so I thought I’d share *four* tips on how to dress for the occasion, without feeling tacky.

Matching Sets

Matching sets are an easy way to play up red, white, and blue (or any combination of the three), without going overboard. Here are a few I love:

Star Prints

Star prints are so on trend, and an easy way to look festive. Where them in the classic red, white, and blue palette, or switch things up! Either way, you’ll still be feeling on theme.

Monochrome Jumpsuit

A jumpsuit is an easy way to wear our national colors. Especially now, blue and white are classic summer colors, and a lot of brands are making a case to add red to that category. Bonus: a jumpsuit instantly elevates any look.

Festive Swimsuit

Last but not least, the easiest way to look patriotic without looking tacky is to wear a bathing suit! This is your chance to go a little overboard celebrating America’s birthday without any judgment!

I hope these tips were helpful and you have all have a great 4th of July!
