July 4th Outfit Inspo to Shop Now!

Someone please let me know where the month of June went. I can’t believe it’s already almost July! And of course with July coming up, I’m sure everyone is thinking about their July 4th plans. And with your plans, I’m sure you’re starting to think about your July 4th outfit. Truthfully, I’m so bad about planning out outfits for this holiday, but this year I wanted to give you all (and myself) a head start!

July 4th Outfit Ideas

  1. You can’t go wrong with a red summery blouse! Pair with white or denim shorts for a casual fit.
  2. If your plans are a little fancier than a cookout—or hey wear it to the cookout, I won’t judge!—try a summer maxi dress in festive colors.
  3. Feeling casual? Try a graphic tee that’s subtle, not cheesy!
  4. A red bikini is a classic that won’t steer you wrong.
  5. This high waisted bikini is a little more a statement maker and will be sure to garner compliments!
  6. Star jewelry is such a subtle way to feel festive.
  7. These star sneakers are way too fun and aren’t limited to patriotic holidays!
  8. If you’re feeling bold, a classic red lip is a must! It’s perfect if you’re going for an all-white look and want to be more festive.
  9. I’m obsessed with these star jeans. They’re so fun and trendy and will wear well into fall.
  10. Another casual option is this USA sweatshirt. Pair this with denim shorts and you have my perfect 4th of July outfit.
  11. Gingham and patriotism go hand-in-hand. If these gingham shorts don’t scream picnic and fireworks I don’t know what does!

I hope you liked my picks for 4th of July. Let me know what your plans are in the comments! Also, I’d love to know what your July 4th style is. Are you a graphic tee kind of gal? Or do you prefer a festive dress? Or do you stay in a swimsuit all day long?

I never thought the day would come that I would refer to neutral colored trousers as a trend, but here we are. The pants I would normally save for office attire are actually, kind of, chic…? I don’t know when it happened by summer trousers are here to stay and making a statement!

Lately, I’ve been seeing these pants paired with fitted crop tops and sandals. I love how my one shoulder top pairs with the baggier pant style. And the barely-there sandals peaking out from under the pant leg look adorable.

I went for a more elevated, Parisian vibe with black and gold accessories. Just imagine a French girl walking down the streets of Paris in this casual cool combination that is so typical of the city. And of course anything that is reminiscent of Paris is a win in my book!

But now that I’ve talked about my look for this post, I want to share why I’m loving this trend. So, if you’re not convinced yet, let me sell you on the idea.

3 Reasons You Should Try Summer Trousers

  1. They’re insanely comfortable. Loose and roomy paired with a light fabric? It actually feels like wearing pajama pants. If you’re ready to upgrade your quarantine sweatpants for something a tad more chic, this is it!
  2. They’re universally flattering. The thing about wide leg trousers is that they look good on everyone! The baggy fit paired with more elevated details will always look pulled together. Bonus: you can have them tailored to fit you perfectly.
  3. There are so many styling options! Because of the neutral color, basically anything goes with summer trousers. I kept it simple with black details, but anything from color to prints will work! My suggestion though is to pay attention to proportions. Because the pants are baggier, I would go with a more fitted top for balance.

Have I sold you on summer trousers yet? I think this trend is so chic, plus it can easily be worn to work! Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

A few years ago while shopping with a friend, we started talking about our respective “styles.” I remember saying I couldn’t really place what my style is. She came up with an answer for me: trendy, feminine, classic. It sounds almost like an oxymoron—can you be both trendy and classic?—but it fit.

I’m sharing this anecdote because last week I droned on about the Y2K trend I’m loving, but here I am with a new, more romantic aesthetic inspired by an Italian summer. Fashion has always been an escape for me, which is why it’s hard to pin down my style.

Anyway, let’s talk about this Italian summer aesthetic I can’t get over. Imagine you’re having a picnic in the Italian country side. That’s it. That’s the aesthetic. In other words, feminine, romantic pieces that have almost a vintage flair.

One of the easiest ways to obtain the Italian summer aesthetic is to throw on a breezy summer dress—floral print optional, but appreciated. I think this dress fits so perfectly because the floral print is subtle and it combines well with the feminine details (i.e. tie straps and A-line silhouette).

So tell me, are you imagining a Tuscan picnic right now? Because I definitely am! Let me know what you think in the comments below!

Early 2000s Summer Style Inspiration

When it comes to the “ugliest” decades for style, the 2000s are at the top of my list. Looking back at the low-rise jeans, rhinestones, and other fashion atrocities I can’t help but cringe. And then I realized I was a hypocrite. I took a long, hard look at my Pinterest boards as of late and it hit me: all of my style inspiration at the moment is a throwback to Y2K.

The 2000s may have been a weird time for fashion, but it was bright, colorful, and quirky—just what we need as we head into summer. The world in general could use a little more brightness. So, if fashion is one way to achieve that, I’m going to embrace it!

When it comes to this outfit, there’s definitely a bit of a Mean Girls vibe. And you know what? I LOVE it! If I’m not looking like Regina George or Gretchen Wieners I’m doing it wrong! Go back and watch the movie (or any 2000s classic) and you’ll see a ton of school girl inspired skirts.

What I love about these shorts is that they combine the pleats and the plaid print that’s reminiscent of Y2K, but still completely modern! To keep the outfit looking fresh and not like I’m dressing in character, I threw on a basic white top and sneakers. And let’s talk about this top for a minute. It’s from one of my favorite brands and such great quality. I’ve already gotten so much use out of it; a closet staple for sure.

2000s Inspired Trends

While plaid and pleats are an obvious choice, let’s chat about other 2000s inspired trends:

  • Cardigans: Another preppy school girl looks, cardigans are having a moment right now. Whether long sleeved or short sleeved, you can’t go wrong! Opt for a cropped fit to really nail the trend.
  • Halter tops: It took me a second to fully get on board with this. And while I’m still somewhat hesitant, I’ve seen a ton of cute halter tops and can’t wait to wear them for summer! I think the key is to opt for a v-neck or scoop neck style vs. a high neck.
  • Flip-flops: From heeled flip-flops to the traditional sandal, they’re going to be an it-shoe this summer. To avoid looking clunky, go for a thin, sleek pair in a neutral color.
  • Dad jeans: I think it’s safe to say skinny jeans are a thing of the past. While straight leg jeans have been taking their place, dad jeans are quietly taking center stage. I’m talking about looser-fitting, baggy jeans that go all the way down. And yes, a lot of them are low-rise (although I’m still not ready for that, personally).

What do you think of this trend? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!

If you can’t tell, I’m a little bit obsessed with this outfit. I mean, look at how many photos I used for this post! There are a few trends this season that are stealing my heart, but at the top of the list are pastel day dresses and western boots. My Pinterest boards can attest to this.

As soon as I saw this yellow puff sleeve dress I knew I had to have it. I’ve never been a huge fan of yellow (in clothing), but lately pastel yellows have really caught my eye! Paired with the puff sleeve detail and the square(ish) neckline it was a no brainer. It really just encompassed everything I wanted out of day dresses. I also really love the fabric of this dress. It’s 100% cotton and although it does wrinkle easily, it’s so light and comfortable for summer! Despite the fact that it’s a $22 dress, my mom even said it would be so cute for a summer wedding.

Now on to the western boots. If you watch my Instagram stories, you probably know about my endless search for these boots. While I couldn’t get enough of the western boot trend, I couldn’t find any in white that met my specifications. I loved this one pair from Steve Madden but didn’t want to spend that much money for boots in the summer. Finally I found the pair I’m wearing from Amazon! Weirdly enough they only cost $20 in my size! (It is Amazon though, so different sizes have different prices. These price up to $70, which still isn’t a bad price!).

Anyway, I love how these boots look with the dress and I’ve styled them so many other ways too. There’s just something so “LA cool girl” about these boots and I’m living for it!

To finish off the look, I grabbed my designer dupe sunglasses I can’t stop wearing, my new vintage Prada bag, and some gold jewelry! I was aiming for an effortless, but put together vibe and I think this is it. Let me know what you think of this outfit combo in the comments below!
