What to Wear on a Warm Winter Day

What to Wear on a Warm Winter Day

I’m not sure what was going on on the east coast this past weekend but it was WARM. I’m talking early spring warm that had everyone baffled. So of course, I took that chance to break out my wardrobe favorite: a denim skirt.

All of my OG followers know I worship at the altar of denim skirts. They’re a staple from spring through fall in my closet. With that being said, we can’t forget that it’s, you know, winter… With that in mind, even when the weather is starting to get warmer, I still like to tip my hat at the actual season we’re in.

I think the best way to dress for a warmer winter day is to stick with neutrals—they work for every season. So, with my denim skirt firmly planted on my body I kept the rest of the outfit simple. A white turtleneck is always a good option. I love this one because the material isn’t too heavy, but it was perfect to wear without a jacket. High-knee boots were another necessity. It was warm, but nowhere near shorts weather so keeping my legs somewhat covered was perfect. And just to give the outfit a little pizzazz I threw on my new favorite hat (seriously it’s so good—looks like a Lack of Color hat but under $50?? Can’t beat it!).

So there you have it, a super simple outfit for days that are warmer than average in the middle of winter. Let me know what you think in the comments below!

What to Wear on a Summer Night Out

What to Wear on a Summer Night Out

Time and time again, I’m sharing cute little outfits for day time. I realized that I hardly ever share outfits that you might wear out (aside from formal occasions that is). So with that being said, I thought it would be fun to share an outfit I would wear out at night during the summer.

If you’re new around here I’ll let you in on a little secret—I love skirts. If there’s one item I’m constantly wearing, it’s a skirt. So of course that would be my starting point for a night out. What I love about this one first and foremost is that it’s technically a skort! Skorts are so perfect for a night out, especially if your night involves a lot of moving around (dancing anyone??). What I also love about this skirt is the color. I wouldn’t normally think a baby blue skirt would be at the top of my list for a night out, but combined with the cut it somehow works. Throw in the eyelet detail and you know it’s a winner for me!

For my top I went with a simple off the shoulder option. I think a white top is perfect for a summer night out—what better color to show off your tan? Plus, the white really highlights the baby blue of the skirt.

Finally, we come to shoes. I don’t know about you, but when I’m going out I look for two things in a pair of shoes. 1. They have to make my legs look long and give me some much needed height (at 5 ft. heels are a must) and 2. I have to be able to dance in them! I’ve worn these wedges out a few times this summer and I promise that they pass the test!

So there you have it: a simple and super affordable summer night out look! And, if you use the code thedaintydetails315 at Shein (where the top and skirt are from) you can get an extra 15% off. Also, I think I’m going to create another mini-series on the blog (although I haven’t done a Dainty Detail series in awhile). Basically, I want to start a “What to Wear to…” series. If you have any ideas you want me to cover, let me know in the comments below!
