Fall Mood Board

Fall Mood Board

Happy Tuesday! I know it’s been awhile, but since I’ve been back at school I haven’t had my photographer (aka my mom). Anyway, everywhere I turn I can’t help but to see fall fashion, I mean just look at New York Fashion Week instas. With all of this inspiration, I’m reading to break out my sweaters and boots and grab a pumpkin spice latte. Unfortunately, I’m in North Carolina and will be stuck in summer clothing for a little bit longer. But, while I’m rocking my jean shorts and summer tops, I’m dreaming about what I’ll be wearing when the weather starts to cool off.

Cool weather isn’t the only thing I’m dreaming of though, because this January I’m taking a winter term class in Italy! For the past two weeks all I’ve been thinking about is what I’m going to wear as I’m touring the Colosseum and eating my gelato. Here is just a few things that have made it onto my Italy/fall clothing wish-list:

  1. Short Sleeve Lace Top.
  2. Long Sleeve Lace Top.
  3. Vinyl Skirt.
  4. Printed Dress.
  5. Lace Bib Front Dress.
  6. Velvet Booties.

This fall it’s all about luxe. Textures like lace, leather, and velvet (and fur too!) are taking the spotlight. If I had to some up my interpretation of fall fashion I would call it a mix between 1920s glamour, Victoriana detailing, and folky prints and colors. This season be sure to stock up on pieces in burgundy and deep green, you can’t go wrong!

Hope you enjoyed my Fall Mood Board/Italy style inspo. Let me know your favorite fall trends below, and don’t forget to follow on Bloglovin’!

Shirt: Madewell. Skirt: PacSun. Shoes: Birkenstock. Purse: Kate Spade. Lips: Bite Beauty.

Welcome back! If you’ve been following my blog (or instagram), you may notice some similar pieces in the above outfit. For those that haven’t click here and here for reference. Because I’ve “recycled” a lot of these pieces, today’s post is all about versatility.

Versatility, to me, is key in a wardrobe. Of course, I’m as susceptible as the next person when it comes to buying those statement pieces that just scream “pick me” at  the mall. However, I must admit that time and time again I find myself going for the same key pieces in my closet.

Some people here the word “versatile” and immediately shy away thinking it synonymous with “boring” or “unexciting.” This is absolutely NOT the case. To prove my point, we’ll start with my jean skirt. Slowly, the jean skirt has been making a major come back starting with a button down version and moving on to a distressed style like mine. This skirt is completely on trend (and completely cute, if I do say so myself), and completely versatile. Comparing this outfit to the outfit in my post Vacay Vibes, they have a completely different feel between the two. One is a little more polished and girly, while the other is quite laid-back. When I saw this skirt I knew that the styling possibilities were endless.

Moving on to my shirt. I’ve said it before and I will say it again; nothing beats a classic, white t-shirt. No matter the style (I prefer a looser, v-neck version), white t-shirts work anytime. Keep it classic with denim like I did or mix it up and wear it under a slip dress (really on trend right now) or even layered under a jacket/cardigan. Honestly, you can’t go wrong, which makes the white t-shirt a staple in my wardrobe.

As you can see, I’m also re-wearing my new double buckle belt. This is another example of versatile, yet trendy pieces. Obviously I don’t need to explain the usefulness of a belt, but I like that this one is slightly more interesting than your every day version. I’m seeing double buckle belts everywhere right now with so many different outfits and styles, so I promise you won’t regret making this purchase.

Finally, if I haven’t said this yet, go buy a pair of Birkenstocks. GO NOW! I have never worn a comfier pair of shoes. They’re perfect for wearing to class or heading out the door for errands. Mark my words, once you go Birk, you never go back!

Ending my little rant on versatility, I wanted to talk about my lip color. In the pictures it’s coming out sort of red, but it’s actually called Tangerine and creates a pinky-orange color. I bought this last year as part of a small lip duo (love the other color, Ligonberry, too!) in the line leading to the cash register to Sephora. Seriously, that aisle is evil, always getting me to buy things I didn’t even know existed, but suddenly have to have. Anyway, the lip color is by Bite Beauty and it was actually a limited addition, but if you click my link under the pictures, I found it on Amazon for those who are interested. I haven’t bought any other products from Bite, but I should really change that because I love the duo so much!

Spring’s Top Trends

Spring’s Top Trends

My favorite season when it  comes to fashion and shopping is definitely spring. It’s a time for bright colors and the latest trends. Winter layers are shed for lighter materials and textures. Shopping for spring is always a ton of fun! With that being said, here are the latest trends for spring:

  1. Off the shoulder tops. These tops are everywhere! In fact, this trend can even be transferred to dresses too. I’m a fan of this trend because it is so versatile. There are so many different options with this style from dresses, tops and rompers! I recently picked up this dress in New York the other day and cannot wait to wear it! A few other cute options can be found here, here and here.
  2. Flatforms. To be honest, any type of espadrille shoe will do this season, but flatforms are one style that just keeps popping up. In the photos above, I’m wearing a pair from Michael Kors. I love this shoe style because it is so comfortable and easy to walk in, but gives you a little height (which I definitely need!). I also like this pair and this pair.
  3. Mules. This is the other shoe style featured in the photos above. While this is not a new trend (check your mom or grandmother’s closet for a pair) it is definitely making a come back! The pair I’m wearing in the pictures are Steve Madden and although I couldn’t find them online, you can shop a similar pair here. I also like this cheaper pair (under $30!) from Lulu’s.
  4. Denim culottes. Culotte pants started appearing in the fall. Personally, I was afraid to try the trend thinking it was a little “out there” for me. Now I’m seeing the same style but in denim! I personally think that making culottes in denim gives them a younger, more casual feel that I cannot wait to try. I’m ordering this pair from Forever21, but I’ve also seen this style at Express and H&M.
  5. Bandanas. Forget spring scarves, the newest trend is bandanas tied around the neck! I’ve never been the biggest fan of the traditional bandana print, but the great thing about this trend is that it doesn’t have to be a traditional bandana. I like this silky bandana from Nordstrom and practically every option from Free People.

These five pieces are key for staying on trend this spring. Wear them together or individually with your wardrobe basics for an updated look!
