OK — gimme all the skorts, please, especially if they’re plaid. How is this trend just now a thing? It’s just the right amount of nostalgia for my Catholic school days without looking childish and/or creepy (if you get my drift…).

I bought this plaid skort over the summer during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and have been patiently waiting to wear it ever since. Now that the weather finally feels like fall, I feel justified in pulling this piece out of my closet.

Because the weather wasn’t too chilly, I decided to pair the skort with an old bell sleeve top. (Oddly enough it’s the same brand as the skort). Adding to that my favorite boots of the season and you have a fool-proof fall outfit! I got so many compliments on this look and it’s really so simple.

But back to the plaid skort — like I said, I bought this over the summer, so there are only a few left. But good news is it’s on major sale in select sizes! So because of the limited quantity, I thought I’d share some other plaid skorts I’m loving this season. Happy shopping!

I’ve mentioned it before, but I can’t get enough of lilac this fall. Usually around this time of year I gravitate towards burgundy, dark blues and greens, and other traditional fall colors. But this year, pastels are definitely stealing the show.

I bought this sweater back in July during the Nordstrom sale, and it is by far one of my favorite purchases. The sweater is so soft and light weight, but still keeps you warm. I’m definitely thinking about picking up another because it’s under $60! You really can’t beat that price. I’ve been eyeing it in black and the forest green color.

On another note, how freaking cute are these booties? I’ve had my eye on them for awhile, but even now they’re sold out in my size at Nordstrom. By a stroke of luck, I managed to find them in a 6 (my size) at Shopbop on sale. There are only a couple sizes left, but if one of those is your size I highly recommend. I’ve only worn them twice and have already received so many compliments. I won’t lie — they aren’t the comfiest shoe ever (I won’t be wearing these on days I have to trek around campus), but they’re such a flattering shoe. Bonus points: shoes that match your skin tone make your legs look longer, and as a petite gal I can use all the help I can get. Definitely my favorite booties of the season!

Anyway, that’s all for this week. Stay tuned for more next week!

P.S. What are you all dressing as for Halloween? I can’t decide if I want to go a little ~spookier~ this year or try my hand at makeup for a deer costume.

Once again I’m back with creative ways to dress for fall when you live in warmer states. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m dealing with 80 degree weather in October! It is officially fall, but it definitely doesn’t feel like it in North Carolina.

But anyway, one of the ways I’m dressing for fall is by wearing fall tones. And the color combination I can’t get enough of is lilac and brown! By pairing these two colors together, they some how make the other seem even deeper. Also, aside from pairing it with brown, I’m just loving lilac in general for fall! I’ve never been a big fan of purple, but this color stole my heart.

You know what else stole my heart? This jacket/cardigan I recently bought from Nordstrom. It is soooo soft and lightweight. It looks like a jacket, but the flimsiness makes me feel like it falls in the cardigan category. It’s such a great piece to layer now on chillier nights. And of course, the whole outfit had to be topped off with my favorite summer-to-fall trend: leopard shoes! These flats are actually sold out, but you can sign up to be notified when they’re back in stock!

That’s all for this week, leave me a comment below with your favorite fall color combos!

Three Faux-Fall Looks You Can Wear Now

I feel like a broken record, but can it please be fall yet? Waiting (im)patiently… With that being said, my only option is to dress in fall-esque outfits. Basically, wearing cooler clothes that could also be worn mid fall. And to help you out, I came up with three different ways to get your faux-fall on!

1. MOTO JACKET + DENIM SKIRT + BOOTIES

One of the easiest faux-fall looks you can throw on is a moto jacket, denim skirt, and booties combo. It’s essentially my summer uniform, just with a jacket and swapping sandals for booties. You can keep it classic like I did with a black leather jacket and booties, or you can go all out. I’m a big fan of fun ankle boots (just saw these earlier tonight and I’m in LOVE)

2. TEE + STRAIGHT LEG JEANS + LEOPARD SLIDES

I recently saw a version of this outfit come across my insta feed and I can’t wait to recreate it for myself. I’m especially loving a band tee paired with the straight leg jeans and leopard slides. If you’re feeling fancy, you could even swap those slides for a pair of heels to wear this look straight to happy hour.

3. FLORAL MAXI DRESS + SANDALS

Dark florals have such a dreamy vibe this fall. From ruffled maxis, to long sleeved ones, it’s hard to go wrong. This look keeps you covered up, but still cool. Adding sandals keeps this look unrestricted.

What are you wearing while the temps are still high? Are you aiming for a faux-fall look, or are you sticking to your summer separates? Let me know in the comments below!

Fall Mood Board // ’70s Inspiration

Happy Wednesday! With summer almost over, I can’t help but start thinking of fall. More specifically, what I’m going to wear this fall. The trend I’m loving for the upcoming season is a vintage, ’70s vibe. Corduroy, plaid, and bright colors are what it’s all about. And, of course, denim.

The three colors that are going to be huge this season are mustard yellow, lavender, and a bright green. Like I said, bright colors are taking over. Usually I stick with a neutral palette, but I’m excited to spice things up. I’m especially in love with lavender for fall (I already own two lavender colored tops!).

Another trend I’m excited to see more of is leopard print! I’ve had an obsession lately, and it looks like it will carry over to this season. From shoes, skirts, or belts, you really can’t go wrong!

Anyway, I hope this mood board inspires you for fall like it does me! And to shop the items above, just hover over the images!

Faux Fur Jacket

Without a doubt, faux fur has captured every fashion girl’s heart this season. I can’t walk down the street, let alone scroll through my Instagram feed without seeing a faux fur coat or jacket.

The best way to wear this trend is to let your jacket do the talking — pair it with a simple outfit underneath like the one I wore above. I added my favorite button down top to a burgundy corduroy skirt for a subtly chic look. And of course, since December in London is absolutely freezing, I threw on a pair of tights underneath. A lot of people don’t like tights, but I’m a huge fan (could be the ballet dancer in me) and I love the way black tights with black booties elongate your legs. Especially as a short girl, anything that gives me some extra length is good!

Keeping with the glam factor the faux fur jacket brings to this look, I had to top the outfit off with a red lip. I’ve shared this one on the blog a few times, but I’m obsessed with my MAC red lipstick in Ruby Woo. It’s part of their retro matte collection and even though I usually opt for glossier lipsticks, I really love the matte finish on this one.

That’s all I have for this week, see you next Wednesday!

If you haven’t noticed by now, some of my favorite things are mini skirts, leather, and cozy sweaters. So when an outfit has all three, it’s definitely a winner in my book!

I recently picked up this fuzzy cropped sweater and camel colored skirt from Zara. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find the sweater on their website, but I was there last week and saw it in stores still. But, this sweater from Urban Outfitters is almost an exact dupe, it’s just a little more gray than black. I also found a similar long sleeve version from Forever21 that’s also super cute.

Oh and the best news ever? My Steve Madden booties from last fall are back again at Nordstrom AND marked down! They are literally my favorite fall shoes — I wear them so often I broke the sole of the heel and had to get them fixed! They’re so comfy, and add just a little bit of height.

I hope you liked this post! Let me know what you think in the comments!

Oversized Sweater

Sweater | Jeans (similar) | Flats | Bag| Earrings | Necklace (similar) | Lipstick in “Creme D’nude”

Oversized sweater + cropped denim = enough said. When fall rolls around, my go to outfit is always an oversized, comfy sweater paired with jeans. It’s chic, looking like you actually tried, when in reality you just threw on two basic pieces and went with it. What I love about this sweater is the fun, furry pockets! I am obsessed with the fur trend right now, and this is just a small way to incorporate it. (Disclaimer on the sweater: based off of the model wearing it, it’s not supposed to be oversized, but if you have a small frame like me then that’s the fit you’ll end up with).

When it comes to jeans, I have been loving a cropped fit. I bought this pair from Express towards the end of summer, and I’m still obsessed. Again with #shortgirlprobs, the cropped denim wasn’t actually cropped on me, so I had to take mine to the tailor.

To keep the look casual, but chic, I threw on my favorite velvet flats that you’ve probably seen me wear a million times, plus my usual gold accessories (i.e. watch, initial necklace, and hoop earrings).

This is the perfect look for a casual weekend, or dinner with friends. It may be simple, but the sweater is just unique enough to stand out. I’m also loving this beaded, turquoise sweater from H&M as well as this beaded one from TopShop. Small embellishments are the key to taking your sweater from average to ahhmazing.

That’s it for this week’s post. Is there anything you want to see in the next couple weeks? More outfit posts, holiday gift guides, etc.? Let me know in the comments below!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: this season is all about plaid. Now that the weather is getting cooler, I can’t run around the city in just my plaid blazer any longer. Solution: find a new way to incorporate the pattern. And I did just that with these adorable pants!

I must admit, I generally don’t wear pants that aren’t either jeans or leggings (with some exceptions to palazzo pants in the summer). So wearing a trouser-style pant of my own accord is a new feeling! Although I could definitely wear these pants to work, I like that they could be dressed down with a sweater and booties for the weekend.

What I really love about the plaid trend this season is that it’s a nice change from your typical plaid flannel patterns. This pattern has a preppier, 1970s vibe that’s a little classier than buffalo plaid.

If plaid trousers still aren’t your thing, the pattern can be incorporated in so many ways. Try throwing on a plaid check coat, or a fun mini skirt instead! If I have convinced you on the plaid trouser front, I’m loving this option from H&M and this option from Nordstrom.

Thanks for reading! Let me know what you think in the comments, and happy Wednesday!

Three Fall Outfits Under $100

Three Fall Outfits Under $100

Happy first day of November! Since it’s the start of a new month, I decided to create a couple fall outfits for you guys to give you a little wardrobe inspo. I even challenged myself to make them all budget friendly, under $100! Let’s get shopping…

Outfit 1:

I’m not sure about you guys, but the past few years, I’ve been the biggest fan of turtlenecks! I used to think they were for little old ladies, but they can look so chic styled the right way. My favorite way to wear my turtlenecks is with a mini skirt. Spice up the outfit with one of this season’s hottest trends: red boots. Total cost = $87.39

Outfit 2:

If you saw last week’s post (read it here) then you know I love pairing oversized sweater dresses with OTK boots from a cozy, yet put together look. Who doesn’t want to feel like they’re being wrapped in a blanket and call it fashion? Total cost = $99.98

Outfit 3:

Off the shoulder sweaters started appearing last fall, and I can’t get enough! Make this look ultra chic with a pair of leather leggings and some leopard slides. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I’ve been seeing leopard print everywhere! These slides are an easy way to incorporate the print into your wardrobe. Total cost = $91

I don’t usually do posts like these, so let me know what you guys think in the comments below! Also, what did everyone dress up as fore Halloween? Be sure to check out my instagram to see what I was!
