Welcome back! Sorry for the erratic posting lately, but I’m a little behind on content. Don’t worry though — more to come soon! Anyway, how freakin’ cute is my little wrap dress? I’m a huge fan of the wrap dress silhouette, but throw some ruffles on it? I’m a goner.

Funny story behind this dress — my mom and I recently showed up to church for my godson’s baptism a day early! My mom had the day wrong, so after we realized our mishap we decided to go shopping (duh). Anyway, my mom didn’t really like the dress I had chosen to wear so we were browsing for something new while at the mall. After trying on not one, not two, but six different dresses we finally ended up walking into Express where my mom picked up the little number I’m wearing above. As soon as I put it on, we both thought it was perfect.

What I love about this wrap dress (aside from the sunny color) is how versatile it is. I’ve already worn it three times — well, four if you count the photoshoot for this post. Obviously I wore it to the baptism, but I also brought it to New Orleans with me where I paired it with my Tory Burch sandals for a casual day, and then finally to an interview this week. If that isn’t versatility, I don’t know what is.

Now for my accessories. Unfortunately the basket bag you may have seen on the blog and on my insta broke recently, but I happened across this one while shopping at South Moon Under. I’m loving the black and beige color combo and like my old one it has two different strap options.

The shoes. You may have seen them on my insta on Tuesday. They were originally $70, but my mom and I both bought them for only $43! They’re so comfy and, like the dress, work for a variety of occasions. I’ve just worn mine out to dinner once, but I think they’ll make the perfect shoe for exploring on the weekends. My mom actually wore hers to work. But wherever you might wear them, you need these in your life ASAP! I fell in love with the cognac color, but they come in a few others as well (I also really love them in black).

I realize this post is getting long, but one last thought — I finally got on board the MAC creme cup lipstick shade train and I should have done it sooner! The color is too perfect; it’s just slightly too pink to be classified as a nude and is so flattering.

That’s all for this week, until next time…

Carey

Hello all! Today I’m sharing with you one final look from my trip to Scottsdale. This is an easy look to wear for a day of shopping or to a low-key dinner.

Both my top and my jeans are from American Eagle and I have to say I’m pretty impressed. There isn’t much shopping around my college, so I make do with what the small shopping center has. I just happened to walk in one day and they have so many cute tops! I fell in love with this pink striped OTS top and just had to have it.

I also needed a new pair of white jeans, so I thought I’d give these a try. 10/10 would recommend, they’re super flattering and easy to move in.

I finished this look with my usual accessories, and my blue mules again. It must be my spring mindset, but for some reason I’m loving pink and and light blue together!

That’s all for this week!

Welcome back everyone! So excited to share this spring outfit with you. Since my last post, the weather changed from warm and sunny to cold and chilly. Luckily yesterday was pretty warm for this photoshoot.

If you’ve been following the blog for awhile, you may have picked up on how much I love to style button downs. They’re so versatile and perfect for weather year round. Because of the nice weather yesterday I decided to pair my button down with my go-to denim skirt. I swear, I can’t log on to Instagram without seeing at least one photo with a denim skirt. If you don’t own one yet, jump on the bandwagon soon!

My absolute favorite part of this outfit are my new mules! Again, another staple I can’t stop talking about on the blog is mules. I love the light blue color of this pair, which just screams spring. I got them from Forever21 so I didn’t feel bad about the price for shoes that are a little less versatile.

Last but not least: accessories. For those of you who know my style, you know that I tend to go with the same simple, gold pieces. I wear my MK watch EVERY day. I also wear a gold Kendra Scott bracelet almost every day too. The bag I paired with this look is by Rebecca Minkoff that I got for my birthday last year. I love the neutral tone of it, and the circle shape isn’t going anywhere!

That’s all for today, see you next week!

Carey

Happy Wednesday everyone! I know I said that I was really leaning towards Tuesday as my new posting, and I still am, but this week has been kind of hectic so I had to shoot these photos yesterday. But, that actually ended up working in my favor because the weather was in the low 70s. It was such a nice day, but so weird for February. I’m not used to the crazy North Carolina weather mood swings.

Anyway, this look is featuring some of the purchases I made on my recent trip to Italy. Italy has a state mandated sale season starting January 5 – mid February, so I was in heaven! I hit up Zara (of course) and got some cute finds that were so cheap. This first is the skirt I’m wearing. It reminds me of an old-fashioned couch pattern and material, but for some reason I really love it! Embroidery has been big this past season, so maybe that’s why I was so drawn to it. Although it’s sold out in the U.S., the Topshop version I linked above might actually be even cuter! It’s definitely on my list too.

I also bought those super cute furry mule slides that I have been wearing nonstop since I got back (you may have seen from my insta). They’re so comfy and easy to throw on as I’m heading to class.

This look also features my new suede MK bag that my parents got me for my bday (thanks Mom and Dad!). I’m so in love with this bag and I had been craving it for awhile. I also just really wanted to get a brown bag since I don’t have one, unless you count the giant tote I use for class. Anyway, I think this bag was a nice touch for the outfit and helped elevate the look.

That’s all for this week, but stay tuned for more!

Spring’s Top Trends

Spring’s Top Trends

My favorite season when it  comes to fashion and shopping is definitely spring. It’s a time for bright colors and the latest trends. Winter layers are shed for lighter materials and textures. Shopping for spring is always a ton of fun! With that being said, here are the latest trends for spring:

  1. Off the shoulder tops. These tops are everywhere! In fact, this trend can even be transferred to dresses too. I’m a fan of this trend because it is so versatile. There are so many different options with this style from dresses, tops and rompers! I recently picked up this dress in New York the other day and cannot wait to wear it! A few other cute options can be found here, here and here.
  2. Flatforms. To be honest, any type of espadrille shoe will do this season, but flatforms are one style that just keeps popping up. In the photos above, I’m wearing a pair from Michael Kors. I love this shoe style because it is so comfortable and easy to walk in, but gives you a little height (which I definitely need!). I also like this pair and this pair.
  3. Mules. This is the other shoe style featured in the photos above. While this is not a new trend (check your mom or grandmother’s closet for a pair) it is definitely making a come back! The pair I’m wearing in the pictures are Steve Madden and although I couldn’t find them online, you can shop a similar pair here. I also like this cheaper pair (under $30!) from Lulu’s.
  4. Denim culottes. Culotte pants started appearing in the fall. Personally, I was afraid to try the trend thinking it was a little “out there” for me. Now I’m seeing the same style but in denim! I personally think that making culottes in denim gives them a younger, more casual feel that I cannot wait to try. I’m ordering this pair from Forever21, but I’ve also seen this style at Express and H&M.
  5. Bandanas. Forget spring scarves, the newest trend is bandanas tied around the neck! I’ve never been the biggest fan of the traditional bandana print, but the great thing about this trend is that it doesn’t have to be a traditional bandana. I like this silky bandana from Nordstrom and practically every option from Free People.

These five pieces are key for staying on trend this spring. Wear them together or individually with your wardrobe basics for an updated look!
