What to Wear to a Summer Party

What to Wear to a Summer Party

Happy Tuesday! I am especially happy today because I’m heading out of the country for about 10 days (check my Instagram tomorrow to see where I’m headed!). Anyway, a few weeks ago I created a poll on Instagram about what you wanted to see on the blog and a few of you requested outfits for summer parties. So, you asked and I delivered!

I just recently received this romper in the mail from Chicwish and let me just say: run, don’t walk to go buy it! I’ve never worn a more flattering, feminine romper and I just can’t say enough good things about it. The fabric is light, so even though it has long sleeves it’s perfect for summer events.

This outfit would be perfect for a graduation party (just change the shoes depending on how dressed up you want to be), a bachelorette weekend, or just a date night out. I actually planned to wear this to a friend’s graduation party, but changed last minute because of the rain. But I absolutely love it paired with a neutral pair of wedges and will probably outfit repeat for another summer party!

Also, I forgot to mention: there’s a clasp at the neckline. I like mine clasped so nothing shows, but if you want a deeper vee you can leave it unclasped!

Anyway, that’s all for now. Let me know what you think in the comments below!

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday loves! I am SO ready for the weekend. This week has been sort of weird for me, so today I’m sharing a very short (and very late) blog post featuring some things that I’m loving right now.

  1. Babydoll rompers and dresses. So this style/silhouette/whatever you want to call it definitely isn’t for everyone. Personally, I am obsessed. I think this pink babydoll romper is absolutely adorable, and Urban Outfitters has a ton of over cute babydoll dresses and rompers right now. I seriously want to buy them all.
  2. I just saw these sandals in another blogger’s Instagram stories the other day and had to have them! They’re so perfect—from the leopard print to the beaded detail, I haven’t wanted a pair of sandals so badly in the longest time.
  3. The Z Supply short overalls have been popping up all over my feed the past few months in the camo print (which I think are adorable), but I just recently saw the same pair in a leopard print. All I can say is: sold! Sadly, they’re sold out in all sizes but large, but I’m going to keep my eye out for more!
  4. How cute is this little striped dress? I think it would be so cute for any upcoming parties (grad parties anyone?) or a summer vacation! It comes in a few different prints too, but I’m also really liking the dalmatian print which is on sale.
  5. Unpopular opinion, but I find jean shorts so uncomfortable. I’ve been on the hunt for a comfy pair of denim shorts and I think paper bag waist shorts are the way to go. I have that style in a pair of striped shorts that I love, so I’ve been searching for a traditional blue denim pair. I recently bought some that I’m now returning, but just saw these and think I might get them. I saw them on someone else and they looked amazing, so I have high hopes!

Anyway, these are just some things I’m loving right now/have on my wishlist! Happy Friday!

With August coming to an end, I know we’re all itching for fall. Fall clothes, fall weather, fall treats… (Anyone else ready for that pumpkin spice latte?). Well I don’t about you, but now that I’m back to school in North Carolina, it is HOT. I walked to class in 95℉ today and felt like I was melting. So with that being said, here’s a nice summer look for everyone who is dressing for reality, instead of their fall fantasy.

I bought this two-piece set earlier this summer and couldn’t be more in love. I wore it to happy hour with a friend and then also to dinner with my parents. It’s such a cute look, without being over the top. And that price point? This lil number definitely won’t break the bank at only $23! While you’re ordering, pick up a few extras too!

Throwing in a few extras is actually how I ended up with the lemon bag I paired with this look. It’s such a fun addition for summer, plus I love light blue and yellow (I actually wore that color combo to my senior prom!).

I dressed this look up a bit with my wedges for a finishing touch, but it looks equally cute with sandals. When I wore it for happy hour, I paired the outfit with my Tory Burch sandals.

Anyway, that’s all for this week. As always, let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

It’s summer time and I have a case of leopard fever!! Between my go-to leopard slides and this skirt, I can’t get enough of the print. Move aside florals because this is most definitely the “it” print of the season.

If you follow me on Instagram, then you may have seen this skirt last week when I wore it to work. That’s one great thing about it — it’s so versatile. This skirt is from Topshop and it’s a little longer than most of their mini skirts, which makes it perfect to wear to work. Warning: I always size up in bottoms for Topshop, and while I don’t think I should have stayed with my normal size, the skirt is a little loose.

I wanted to keep this look casual for a fun Sunday brunch with my friends in downtown Baltimore. I added my fave new bodysuit from Free People. The style is so cute and like the skirt it can be worn for different occasions (I wore it out on a Saturday night, NOT work!). It also comes in a bunch of colors and I really want to get it in white too. Also from Free People are these cute 60s-inspired hexagonal sunglasses with a green tint. I’m all about fun sunglasses, especially in the summer, and couldn’t pass these up — especially when they were on sale for $10!.

Finally, I finished the look with my Tory Burch sandals; Fells Point in Baltimore is covered in cobblestones so wedges were out. And my basket bag topped off the look.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more on the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!

When it comes to a summer outfit, comfort is key. I think of loose, breezy silhouettes and light fabrics. And this outfit has it all! Both the sweatshirt and the shorts are from Aerie, and I have to say that is one brand that does casual well. I just happened to stumble into the store last week while shopping with a friend and hit the jackpot! My sweatshirt and shorts were both on sale for 25% off. As soon as I tried the outfit on I knew I had to have it (for both pieces I only spent $43 total!). I actually liked both pieces so much, I went back with my mom and got the sweatshirt in another color, and a similar pair of shorts.

Another aspect of the outfit that screams summer to me is the neutral color palette. I loved the white paired with a light khaki color and immediately imagined the outfit with my leopard slides. This is the kind of color palette that is perfect for the beach — or the farmer’s market, which is where I shot this outfit.

Because comfort is the point of this outfit, I wore my go-to cream colored bralette underneath. Then I added my new pair of light pink resin earrings (I’m obsessed!), which gave the outfit some color. If you haven’t seen it yet, make sure to check out my post on resin earrings.

One final thought — not only do I think this casual summer outfit is too cute, I felt like I was wearing pjs all day!
