Today I turned 23 and I’m not quite sure how I feel about it yet. It’s my first birthday out of college and the only thing I can think is “no one likes you when you’re 23” (look up the blink-182 song if you’re confused). But, in honor of another year passed I thought I would share 9 things about me and 9 of my favorite things—the items I reach for weekly if not daily!

But first, quick chat about my outfit. I absolutely adore sweater dresses, but for some reason I find it so hard to find good ones. This is a great one. If you’re petite I think this hits at the perfect length (I’m wearing an xs), the turtleneck is cute but not stifling, and the quality is amazing! Paired with my new knee-high black boots and it’s an easy, but put together outfit. I definitely think a cute headband would be a great way to accessorize and dress it up some more! But now, on to my 9 things.

9 Things About Me

  1. I graduated in May from Elon University.
  2. I was in a sorority there (Alpha Omicron Pi!).
  3. I’m obsessed with all things French, especially Parisian.
  4. I studied abroad in London for four months and now it’s one of my absolute favorite places.
  5. I love to dance (I danced from kindergarten through senior year of high school).
  6. My favorite hobby (aside from blogging) is reading (one of my majors in college was English literature).
  7. My favorite color is pink, although I hardly wear it.
  8. I’m a complete jetsetter—I’ve been to Europe 5 times and visited more cities and I hardly ever get home sick. Even when studying abroad, I cried on the plane home.
  9. My two biggest passions are writing and fashion—which is what made The Dainty Details a reality!

9 Favorite Things

These are the items that have either been given to me or I’ve bought for myself that I fall back on year after year. Caveat: the Gucci bag and Madewell jeans are new to me this year, but they are classics that I know I’ll love for years to come.

  1. Spanx leggings
  2. Gucci bag
  3. MAC Creme D’Nude lipstick
  4. Michael Kors smart watch
  5. Barefoot Dreams blanket
  6. Madewell jeans
  7. Tory Burch sandals
  8. Josie Maran argan oil
  9. Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet perfume

So there you have it! Nine of my favorite things and nine tidbits about me. Tell me something about you in the comments below!

One of my favorite outfits to wear for fall is a sweater dress — all the coziness of a sweater, minus the uncomfortable jeans or other bottoms. Sweater dresses are just a socially acceptable (and stylish) way of walking around wrapped in a blanket. There are so many versions of sweater dresses, but my favorite kind are ones that are bulky, not tight, and have a turtleneck. This combo equals ultimate comfort.

Funny story — my sweater dress is one I picked up at H&M, but when I went to find the link for you guys to shop it, I realized that it wasn’t meant to be a dress. *face palms* I guess that’s one advantage of being short? To be fair, on the hanger this sweater looked huge and I am wearing an xs, so I think you could wear it either way. For those of you with longer legs that definitely can’t turn this sweater into a dress, I’m loving this option and this option as well.

When it comes to shoe choices, I love to pair my sweater dresses with over the knee boots. It’s a trendy look, but it also keeps your legs warm when the weather is chilly. With that being said, sweater dresses look equally cute with some sneakers or booties and tights.

Just as a side note — these photos were all shot by my friend Jenna in Dublin (St. Stephen’s Green to be specific)! I met her in Edinburgh this weekend for her birthday, and since she’s studying abroad in Dublin I went back with her for a day and a half. Both cities are so much fun and I highly recommend visiting! Feel free to message me if you have any questions about traveling to either city.

Carey
